Alaska in June 2008
In June 2008, I had to fly to Alaska for a conference. In the days before and after my working time, I rented a car and drove far and wide sampling some of the beauty of the place; places visited include Seward, Anchorage, Wasilla, Whittier, and Girdwood. As it was very close to the solstice, there was no night - an evening looking sun was as dark as it got.
Alaska was a special place, and although I didn't find it quite as beautiful as Colorado, I still really enjoyed my time walking around the wilderness. On several occasions, I stumbled upon wild moose and was stared down, but thankfully never had any wild bear encounters (although one had been seen in the area, the very morning I walked around Eagle River).
