I visited the United States for the very first time in January 2002 (on a cheap flight that I paid for with insurance money I received after my car was stolen), and spent three and a half weeks in the little town of Scott City, Kansas, visiting friends. Although I've been to the USA almost twenty times since (as of 2013), it really sticks in my memory; everything was a first, even things like visiting a Walmart.
During the course of my time in Kansas, I managed to visit the Boot Hill museum in Dodge City, see Paola and the southern periphery of Kansas City, visit the Kansas Cosmosphere, the Sternberg Museum of Natural History in Fort Hays, and a variety of other places. I remember huge skies and a sense of space, and I can hardly believe it was so long ago now. I took this trip before I even owned a proper camera, so not many photos exist; I have scanned in a few (I used a film camera) and placed them below, but nothing is high quality.
